Default Computer degrees........!

I really want to go to college for computers and make a career out of them. I'm confused as to what degree I'm actually looking at getting into, would i be going for electrical engineering, or would i be choosing computer science?

All I'm really sure about at this moment is I want to go to class's for learning about putting computers together and learning about the part's for now. I was looking at all the people who have made millions of dollars with computers like nvidia ceo's and other company's and all had electrical engineer degrees and none had computer science.

Computer Science i would go for to be honest. I'm studying it next year at my college. It teaches you how all the components in a PC work and how there used and how they co-operate with other components etc etc Electrical Engineer isnt really a good thing unless you want to actually build the lets say GPU yourself or in a team. Your best of going into designing the GPU thats where the moneys at, But dont get to greedy.

They have electrical engineer degrees for 2 reasons really, first off, they have made their money from manufacturing hardware (nvidia) which is more an electrical engineering thing. And also, I don't know how old they are, but I bet at the time they did their degree courses Computer Science was not a degree. Computer Science as a subject is fairly new.

I would have a look into Computer Science as it would give you a more general education in Computers as a whole.

Actually....you want Electronics Engineering, not Electrical engineering if you want to be working on microprocessor design.

Dont skimp on a power supply,if it fails, it usually takes out other components alongside it.

I guess my real question is where is it possible to make 60k + a year in this bussiness because computer repair stores make shit for money.

The places you will make the most money are the following:

1) Developer (hardware or software)

2) Director/Management

3) Highly qualified skill set (like CCIE for example)

4) Security

5) Niche**

**by niche I mean something in an area that no one can really do technology wise and you have the skills. So you can set your price at times.

Wait, so the engineering of computer parts is electrical engineering, right?
