Default Need to stop wireless adaptor refreshing connection

HI,
I have a toshiba sateellite A100-496 laptop with intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG adaptor. Running XP SP3. Wireless router is a Netgear
I have 3 different user accounts on this laptop. It is possible to have multiple users logged on at the same time which is cool. However, if I change users the wireless adaptor refreshes its connection. This is a pain coz it takes around a minute to reconnect to the internet, especially when in a hurry to log on quickly and check something.
Also, if I am logged on and use task manager to log off other users, the wireless connection refreshes aswell.
This is a pain when I the internet slows down due to another user keeping open a webpage with automatic refresh, or a torrent download running etc. I find that when I log them off my internet dies for a minute or so while the connection refreshes.

Is there any way to stop the connection refreshing... Before I changed my hard drive this problem never happened. I put in a new hard drive and a clean install and then this started happening.

Thanks Y'all
