Default Installing New Harddrive, keeping old software / settings

How do you copy all of the OS, system and software files onto a new hard drive so that the PC will still boot and all the software will be intact?

I want a new drive but do not want to reinstall everything...

thanks..!

Your hard drive manufacturer will have a tool that can do this. Western Digital's is called Acronis True Image WD Edition, Seagate/Maxtors is called DiscWizard. They both are just Acronis wrapped in WD/Seagate paper
