When playing games - 2 specifically ( the 2 i PLAY )

When Running - my video will run for a few steps - then go to walking - then I walk a little and can run again - if I re-engage the run key.

Is that pretty much the way these games work with all cards - or is it because my card is only a 512 mb card and a 1GB card would not have this issue while gaming?

This is my first gaming PC - so I'm learning - and would like to know if this is a hardware issue - or game software issue?
