Default Upgrade Time

So I decided that my computer could use a slight upgrade. I'll probably buy the parts this Thanks Giving. Right now I'm deciding between an SSD or a new graphics card. Budget is ~$200. Which one should I do?

New graphics card.

SSD prices are going to take a nosedive in the near future. I would hold off on buying one until that happens.

Agree!! They will drop in price

As for the graphics I recommend a 5850 instead. That will be more future proof

How much does the 5850 cost? If it's around $200 I would consider it.

It's actually around $280-300 but, it's worth it in my mind. It runs faster than a 4870, has dx11, and consumes less power.

SSD will load windows and games faster thats about it once your in a game a SSD won't do a thing. Those direct 11 cards will run games at silly speed so I would go for one of those.

Or a Razer Mamba mouse £100 :0

I agree with previous statements above, hold off on whatever you want to buy until Black Friday, sales are going to be massive this year
(Which I think is what you meant by saying "holding off until thanksgiving")
If It were me I'd buy the GPU... I can live with my SATA HDD right now, but I have a crappy onboard, and I really need a new GPU.. And the SSD only increases speeds during file transfers to other SSD drives.. Although the boot up from bios screen to Windows is about 25 seconds

Haha, good, I didn't even read the comments and I knew it'd be 4890.

If you want to be all pricy and stuff, then maybe this if you really want DX11: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161306
