I had a AMD Athlon 64 3200 socket 939 with heatsink and fan. Took the motherboard and cpu out of computer and installed different Mobo due to this mobo dying.
The mobo I installed has a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 with AM2 socket, but with no fan and heatsink. My question... the heatsink and fan from the defective socket 939 mobo seems to fit on the mobo with the AM2 socket just fine. Will it be sufficient to cool down the AMD Athlon 64 X2 chip? |

What heatsink is it? If it's the stock heatsink then it'll probably have some trouble cooler a dual core chip.

Yeah it wont cool it very well...I tried something as simple as reusing a 3200+ on a 4000+ it couldn't the job either :/
Sometimes its best just to buy a cheap after market cooler like a Xigmatek S1283 or a Arctic 64 Pro
