The one I'm running works fine from my cable Tuner box. Only cost 25 bucks at Newegg too. The only hangup is a lag when changing channel on Cable box - but I got used to it.

I use remote on Cable box - and keyboard / mouse for sound controls - great picture on Vista or Win 7 media player on 15" and 22" HD monitor. Don't have a clue if it works on XP or not.

If you want to run without a box - you'll probably need a Clearqam digital tuner ( my cable company Comcast is getting rid of Analog service ). It's the only Tuner I've used - so I can't say much about other alternatives but I like the one I got.
