Default GTX 260 core216 in SLI @x8

will my gtx 260s run sufficient at x8 mode in my p55 motherboard or would the performance be drasitcally decreased?

i know the x8 mode will be slower than x16 but if its minimal then i'm saving my $$ and sticking with x8.

i read some differences in tomshardware.com but that hardware was from 2004.

*Note* i do not plan on upgrading in the future.
