What kind of XP install disk do you have? Depending on what you have, you might not be able to use it. Make sure you have all the xp drivers readily available for your machine.

The only drivers on their site is for Vista, you'll have to do some searching online. A disk for multiple computers? Corporate version? End users can't use them, only companies that have multiple computers can.

Just so you know your "IT guy" gave you a bootleg copy of Windows. If you install it your likely to run into trouble at some point down the road.

But, what the IT guy probably did, was share the disc illegally.

Glad to hear that now. I haven't done it yet and just found my old XP Home edition disk from my old computer. Can I do anything with this?
Also, what is the skinny on Windows 7? Are people liking it, loving it, hating it? Thanks for the help by the way. I haven't done anything as yet and don't plan to until all my ducks are in a row. It's not a bootleg copy, but the sharing thing is probably correct and I won't do that. I'd rather wait and pay for a working XP or upgrade to W7. Seems like it would be easier to go to W7. |

Is your old XP Home disc a retail disc or a recovery disc from an old computer?
If it's the latter, it will be useless on a different pc. Most people love Windows 7. The rest hate it on principle, not because it's not good.
