Default Optical Drive question

So you all know I already have bought the below, but still debating on what graphic card to get. Anyway I need an optical drive..., one that reads and writes CDs & DVDs, and if it does blu-ray or light scribe that's a plus, but not a must have. I've read at some places on the net that some drives are not working with windows 7, so can anyone recommend a good one 100% compatible to buy please!

Intel core i7 920 bloomfield
windows 7 home edition
western digital caviar black 640
corsair dominator 6gb memory
antec earthwatts 750
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Motherboard

Where have you read that optical drives are having compatibility issues with Windows 7? I've never heard of any compatibility issues with any optical drives for any OS. AS for software, the reason there's no compatibility issues with optical drives is that you never have to install drivers for them.

I wish I could provide links but I can't. All I can say is that I was looking up cd/dvd writer's and saw on the spec section some of them read things like, "for vista based os" etc. but maybe it was just describing the software that came with it, I'm not sure. So anyway I then thought that optical drives had to be compatible with the OS, where as I then did a search for optical drive's compatible with windows 7. There was a couple of different sites like this forum that had people talking about different problems they were having with their drives after updating to W7. I also found another link that led me believe this was true because they have a list of compatible things with W7, and thought why would they have a list if all are compatible? I may have completely misunderstood, don't know.

Personally, I have never heard of a CD/DVD drive not being compatible with an OS; usually it's the burning software bundled with it. I would just get a drive that would come with the basic version of Nero and you should be all set...
