Default Freeware/Shareware for screen recording?

Like the title suggests, I need a screen recording software that will allow me to take down gameplay of Project Reality. My friend wants to see what it's all about and doesn't have time to come to my house, he also doesn't have BF2 and he's not getting it until he sees if PR is worth "paying $20" for. It can be either freeware or shareware (preferably free ), but I won't mind paying a little money if it's going to make a big difference.
