Hi
first of all i bought 2 512 DDr400 rams. I usaed to have DDr266 256mb. i put the on DIMM A0 and DIMM B0 the 2 512mb and i put on DIMM A1 the 256mb. It said that the two 0s and 1s must be compatible... So can't i now use the 256mb? Note that my mobo runs the 400 mhz in 333mhz freq (max). Another question is that camn i now turn of the virtual memory or is it better to leave it on. thanks.

Right, it would help a lot if you told us what motherboard you were using. By the sounds of it, yes, i would say that the slower 256Mb is now redundant (its not as if you need it anymore with 1Gb). The RAM is only running at 333Mhz because that is all the mobo can support.
As to virtual memory, leave it on, it provides a larger work area that your RAM can provide, at times of full system load the virtual memory is critical to have. This is also called a pagefile, my pagefile is set to 1.5Gb.

Your board can run dual channel mode with any matched RAM, and it supports a max speed of DDR400. I would sell the 256MB stick and use the 2 sticks in slot A0 and B0 (or A1 and B1)

Yeah $10 give or take is a reasonable asking price, some people will pay more some will say its too much.

I'll buy it for 10$, how much to ship to 92653?(zip code is Ca, USA?)
I basicly was being an idoit, and broke one of my 512MB DDR sticks, so a 256MG will last me untill i feel like paying for a 512MB. Last edited by flame1117; 07-04-2005 at 11:28 PM. |
