Default Trouble with Video

I've suddenly gotten a problem with video. When i load a video file, like an avi, or mpeg, the picture of the video is an odd color (Sometimes similar to a color of an image when you switch to other bit resolutions, like 32 to 16), even when i change the bit resolution from 32 to 16. I think this happened when I ran an emulator...and even though I restarted the computer, im having the same problem. I dont have any distorted colors on a regular screen, so im wondering if its just audio. Im going to check a game to see if my video card is or isn't malfunctioning...i'll edit or send a new message when completed, please give me opinions and suggestions until then, thank you.

Editted:: No problems running CS:S, so it seems maybe its my video codec? im not sure. The preview images of videos are fine, its just right now it seems like I cant view the video correctly. Possibly... a way i could describe video is...like its color is...whats the word..i dont know if im sure...but its like..Inverted.

Look....i dont think its something wrong with my codec. It may be due to the fact that yesterday I updated my drivers for Ge Force Fx 5500, international version (Since i also run japanese on this system.) So please, stop ignoring this like its a simple codex problem -_-.

did you try uninstalling the drivers you have now and installing the ones that came with the cd?

sadly, I dont know where the cd is, but still it shouldn't make a difference...i think its something wrong with media players because in games that play videos, the videos play right I believe.
