Default USB and PS/2 Mouse Ports Problem...

Hi, I found that my USB and PS/2 Mouse (not keyboard) ports has some weird problems...

My USB mouse (let say Mouse A) is a combo model which I have plugged into the PS/2 port (with a USB/PS2 connector)...it suddenly didn't work today. I took out the connector and plugged in the USB port, it works. Then I thought it was the connector's problem.

But when I used a different USB mouse (Mouse B) with the "same" USB/PS2 connector and plugged into the PS2 port....it works??? Then the connector should have no problem at all...but like I said above, the Mouse A also has no problem as well because I plugged it into USB port and it works.

Then, for testing reason, I plugged the Mouse A into the connector again and see if it works....the answer is no.

Ok, this time I used my old PS2 mouse and plugged into the port and see if it works....again it didnt work. Is my PS2 port f**k up?? Could someone please tell me what's going on???

Also...my computer is quite old, it has only two USB port...since I can't use the PS2 port any more so that I bought a 4 port mini hub (1.1). The USB mouse works fine before, but when I plugged into the hub, it didn't work...ahhh...it drives me nuts...may I ask if my USB port f**k up as well??

The USB hub has a light on it, and it was on when i plugged into the usb port, so it should be fine....but why it didnt work when i plugged in the mouse??? Especially when i tested the usb mouse is ok for sure.

this is the strangest problem i have ever met so far...someone please help...

Don't know exactly what your ps/2 problem is, but I'm guessing your mouse doesn't work in the hub because its not getting enough power. Some USB devices receive some, if not all, the power used to run thru the USB port. When you use a hub, if it doesn't have it's own power source, some devices wont work due to not getting enough power.

Whats the make/model of the motherboard? (and for the record, the mouse too) QUESTIONS 101.
