I am afraid you can't because pixel shader support is linked to the hardware and the Geforce 4 MX 440 that I had did not have it. The Geforce 4 MX was a direct x 7 card and utilises no pixel shaders. Therefore, new games simply do not work well or at all. Besides, the performance you would get would be disappointing.

I don't know the name of the program, but my brother, when he had to settle for a Geforce 2 MX 400 (blech), got a program that uses the CPU to simulate features such as pixel shader. It takes a decent amount of the CPU's attention, but for him it worked well (he has a fairly good processor). He was able to play Pirates (and I'm not talking about the Sega Genesis version
) with high(er) detail, and I believe he also dabbled around with Doom III and was able to play at low/medium, but due to the nature of the program, the framerate suffered.
