Hi, I'm looking to get this desktop. Was wondering if you think this is a good deal?
AMD A64 3500( 939 ) Asus A8N-SLI Mainboard OCZ 1G DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Premier MSI NX6600GT 128E 128M ( PCI-E 16X ) 200G SATA Hard Drive 1.44M Floppy Drive Tsunami Case( w/500W 2-fan power ) LG 4163 16x DVD Burner 16X LG DVD ROM On board Sound / Lan / USB Altec Lansing Subwoofer Speaker Multimedia Keyboard & Optical Mouse Price: $1195 CDN ($992.08 USD) - no OS, software, or monitor. Link Does this seem alright? Also, how important is the sound card, Lan, USB? Because these are "On board" and probably generic. Should I upgrade these? Thanks. |

That sounds like a good deal. As for the onboard stuff, most of it should be ok. The LAN and USB would obviously be perfectly fine. Onboard sound is usally a good bit lower quality when compared to high end cards, but it all depends on how picky you are. Some do sound decent and even have some decent surround sound options. Heck mine even came with optical in/out!

You won't notice much of a difference between those two processors, but for just $86, that sounds like a pretty good deal, to be able to upgrade to the 3500

Ok, I found another desktop from a different place with almost identical specs, but it's a little bit more expensive. However, I think my dad can get included Windows/Software from them, so that would be well worth it. Here are the specs.
AMD A64 3200(939) ASUS A8N-SLI MB nForce4 OCZ Premier 1GB DDR400 (512 x 2) (upgraded) SATA150 WD1600JD 160G 7200rpm 8M, 3YW (downgraded) Black Sony 1.44 Floppy Drive Black Pioneer 109 DVD+/-RW Gigabyte NX6600GT 128M DDR3 HDTV Antec Sonata Tower w/ Original Power (380W) HD Audio, Giga-bit Lan, Firewire Logitech Cordless Desktop MX Duo (upgraded) Price: I changed some things around, but I estimate it to be around $1200-$1250 CDN If I can get this with Windows XP and Software, of course I would get this system. If I can't, how would this compare to the first system? I believe a few things are better than the other sytem, right? |
