I have installed the cpu, ram, hard drive, cdrom into my asus K8V motherboard and then connected all the pins inside for the power switch etc... Then i came to connecting my monitor...and found that the board dosn't appear to have onboard graphics. So i bought a Radeon 9700 pro and shoved it in the AGP and connected the monitor to that. The board powers on, but nothing comes up on the monitor and it just stays in its stand by mode.
On another thread i read something about using a jumper to reset the CMOS or something, (clock, time, settings of bios) and then tried it, but still it dosn't work. Anyone got any ideas? thanks |

this may sound silly but are you sure that the card is all the way in the agp slot. They need a good push in. Card may be buggered i suppose but that doesnt happen to often
Try testing the card on another pc

I have a 400W power supply, the board recommends at least 300w-350, so thats ok.
mmmm i will try the card on another computer to make sure. The fan works on it when the computer turns on...but that could just be the fan right. EDIT: Tried the card in another computer, it works fine. Could it be that the cpu isn't working.... or isn't in properly... or would i hear a beep tone for that? 2nd Edit : I am now thinking that the motherboard itself is dead. Even though the led turns on, and it sets the speed of the heatsink and graphics card fans, could it be dead? I have never heard a beep from it, even when nothing is connected.
