Default ATI cards in sli?

wll, i'm buying an Albatron k8SLI mobo. but when i looked on the website. i found this.

2*PCI Express x 16 ( nVIDIA SLi technology support X8+X8 ,No support ATi Radeon X300)

does this mean i can chose between nVidia , and Ati cards with the use of sli?

it uses two slots with two cards that make one image. The 8x + 8x represent the BUS speeds.

yeah you can only use a nvidia card with that. i believe only the 6800 and 7800 can be connected via SLI mode.

doesn't crossfire involve a link outside the system that doesn't require special bios support as it involves hooking the cards up outside the case?
