Default usb port

HI
can someone help?????
i have just fitted a internal usb port but where do i connect it on to the board?.

it has a 8 pin square plug at the end of wire please help?

Look around and you should see a little header for it on the board. Usally it says something around it like USB1 or something like that... If you have a manual for your board, check in there. It should have what all the headers are for on your mobo...

i found that when i connect it to that while the system is shutdown the fan starts to run automatically.
any ideas

lol i never open my computer while it is pluged in, i know its suposed to be good for grounding but im too scared to get shocked

the most you'll get is 12v, that wont feel much different from a static shock

Before you plug you cables to the m/b, make sure the sytem is unplugged, push the switch on the psu to off, and hold down the power button for 5 seconds. You should be good to go.

turns out that the cables on the plug were wrongly put in line,rearrranged and im online with extra USB ports!!!!!
