Default Audit Policy script

hey, i was wondering if anyone knows of a way or how to write a script for windows xp pro to enable auditing for a given file.
this is for new machine configurations and instead of doing each individual file manually i was hoping it could be automated. there are about 200+ files that need auditing turned on and not for all events, just for certain failed events.
i was pointed towards subinacl (http://ss64.com/nt/subinacl.html), but im really not sure how to implement that, let alone to enable audit policies for individual files.
any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
