Default Big issue according to my PSU

Hi.

So, I have maybe common problem. I wanted to take my PC out on a walk around the room and while it was switched off I switched the switch at the back of PSU off so that there won't be any problems.

I unplugged my PC but did not unscrew it. I thought to my self "just forget it, I'll do it tomorrow". So after a couple of minutes I switched the back switch on and... it blew up.

Choosing a PSU and PSU itself will not be a problem, I just want to know whether any of my hardware went dead too. I haven't got another PSU like this in my house (what I mean by that is type of the socket that goes to my mobo) so I can not check if everything else is working...

PSU I have had was pretty.. well, not pretty just crap. It was a 650W but according to settings it was about 400W and really, really low amps etc. Only one +12V rail - created by "EZCOOL". It managed to power up HD5870x2, 4GB of RAM and a Q9650. My PC specs are in my signature underneath this post.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

One 12v rail is better than multiples most of the time. Also do you have two 5870s or do you have a 5970? I only ask cause it looks like a dual core card when written like that and they dont make a 5870x2 (thats called the 5970).

As far as testing the other parts in your build, I would reccomend getting another psu cause that is the only sensible way to do it. Good luck.

Multi-rail vs. Single Rail doesn't matter on a well designed power supply.

That power supply is not adequate for your rig, in any way.

A suitable replacement would be the Antec TruePower New 650W, or higher.

Yes I know it wasn't. And I didn't ask for a PSU but to check whether any of my hardware went dead

And that PSU was not well designed.

I bought two separate GPUs and connected them with each other and yes, it does work and mistake wasn't made by me there saying the wrong model.

And again, I asked you whether my hardware could go dead or not!

There's a chance it is dead, since the PSU will likely have insufficient OCP protection.

There are few consumer PSUs that are true multi rail.

LOL, please make this a sticky for anyone who wants to risk putting higher end kit on a SHITE psu.

Your gear may be toast, buy or borrow a new PSU and find out. I am not really sure what you want us to say, um let me guess, *wet finger in the air*, um yes its dead -may be. No one can know for sure until you test it.

Yeah, i can only think of the corsair HX1000 as being a true multirail as far as consumer power supplies.(one transformer/rail), even the zalman unit i have isnt a true multi rail unit(6 rails&2 transformers). The only true "multirail" unit i have is my bench power supply with two adjustable dc outputs hehe.
