3. My guess is that as wierd as it sounds, it is a B&W2 peculiarity ... because everything else seems to fall within expected performance parameters (ok on the lower side of things ... can you play BF2 @ 1024x768, everything to max in the game, drivers set to performance/balanced mode flawlessly each time, everytime? ... dont go by a fps number, go by gameplay experience)
I'll probably reinstall Windows anyways, once I get the new computer. But i've already restored twice, and there hasn't been much change in performance.

Yes b&W2 does play pretty bad. I've tested a few more games, like the F.E.A.R demo which was laggy even on the "recommended system settings". DOOM 3, I got my friends version, install and played, was very bad on high graphics. Call of Duty 2 Demo, which plays good on low graphics (They have a reputation for making high-end games low-end games aswell ) but was quite horrid on high graphics.

Also games like HL2 are very well made I must say, they make it look cool and somehow allow it to perform so well.

And I was judging by Gameplay Experience, just showing the FPS as an example.

I also just realised I had BF2 on 800x600 resolution, so that's an obvious reason for good performance, but not looking as good.

I just tested BF2 on 1024x768, Max settings, and I was VERY surprised at the performance. I played for about 5 minutes flying with around 70 FPS!

"Well," replied the clerk, "Have you tried Windows 98?"
