Default need help. botting eeepc from usb hard drive

My Wifes EeePc has cracked the shite so Im trying to install Windows 7 on it from a usb drive. I have followed many differant guides but still cant get it to work. When I boot from the usb hard drive The EeePc tells me that its missing the Operating System. What am I doing wrong and how can i fix it
