Windows ME (DLL.File)

When I start my system it appears the following error "A required . DLL.file, asee.dll was not found" when I hit OK button it gone but after a while came again. Someone can help me, Thank You, please.

Maybe the asee.dll file is corrupt, which means you're going to have to replace it.

Try searching on the net for that dll file or your ME CD, if that fails, try using someones machine who is running ME and search for the dll file, copy it to floppy (note where the file came from, the path etc) and put it onto your PC in the exact same place. Doing it this way, you'll know exactly where to put the dll file.

I found this when I googled:

""asee.dll" isn't part of Windows and a google search only returns this message board. It must be part of something strange you've installed. It could even be spyware. Mprestwood2 had this problem in a previously message (Thurs 5 May). I recommended to run a spyware and virus check to see what it brings up.

These are the first things you could try. Ad-aware (spyware remover) and AVG (virus remover) are free if you haven't got any."

"Do you have AOL installed? I think it may be part of it. If you have Windows XP and you've installed SP2 (service pack 2), there's an AOL patch you may need to install."

Here I found it... http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/index-a.shtml - go to that site and search asee.dll, and download it. I don't know where it belongs however.

You might want to try running system file checker to make sure the dll isn't corrupt. Insert the install disk, click start, run, type SFC /SCANNOW into the window and hit enter. It might take 30 minutes but it will replace any corrupt system files with the most recent upgrade version installed on your machine.

Im not sure if that will work on Windows Me, if not try

In my experience, when a unusual .dll file comes up as "missing" that usually to me means that it is a virus... I would look into a way to get rid of it, possibly with SpyBot or a virus scan. Make sure you know where that file is coming from for sure. (do a search for it and see where it is located, it will probably be a suspect file directory)

my only guess is that it was spyware or a virus and was removed and is still in your registry. however, i wouldn't touch the registry unless you know for sure what you're doing. i'd just search for it through the web stie listed above and see what that comes up with.
