Default Computer suddenly can't connect to the network

Hi ppl,
This is a very interesting problem ...
My computer is AMD Atholon 1600 on an MSI motherboard. The OS is WinXP and the system about 3 years old.
I usually leave my computer on except for occation reboots. But a few days ago, because of some reason, I shut my computer down at night and in the morning when i turn it on again, I could no longer connect to my home network (and the internet)! I tried to change to network cable, change the PCI slot of the network card, install another network (the original one is Linksys and the new one is DLink). I even tried to install a clean Win XP but to no avail. Windows does recognize the network card and says that it's working fine. but when i tried to ping the network switch or some other IPs, "host not found" is returned and no packet was sent or received.
The strange thing is ... except for this problem, my computer is working fine. I really don't know what else i can do to it ... please help me ~~
Thank you in advance.

Kevin

Default hey

I would try replacing the newtwork switch. It seems that the two simply do not communicate. Otherwise, I do not see what could be causing this problem.

In Network Connections make sure your LAN connection is Enabeld, if it is Enabeld
does it say [Connected] or does it say [Network cable unplugged]
