What canon camera is it, what PC have you got, what intercface is it connecting via. Have you made any system changes, installed any new hardware/software. Post back wiht info. thanks

Try doing an error check of the hard drives and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise, does it detect the camera at all on any USB port b/c it could be a bad port or a bad USB controller, check other USB devices. Also, try just getting rid of all the software associated with the camera and then reinstall the drivers.
