Default Computer doesn't recognise Camera

I have a Canon Digital Camera. I installed everything and it worked well with the software etc. Until recently, the computer says that the camera isn't connected, whats the problem?

It is a Canon A85. I have a P4 2.4. Using a USB Connection. And I think I did a system restore, but that was about half a year after I installed the software.

Try doing an error check of the hard drives and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise, does it detect the camera at all on any USB port b/c it could be a bad port or a bad USB controller, check other USB devices. Also, try just getting rid of all the software associated with the camera and then reinstall the drivers.
