Default Another new build checklist...

I'm building a new system for my computer illiterate sister. She just needs one to store and send pictures from her digital camera, do some internet browsing, and occasional word processing. I just wanted some opinions before I go ahead and order the parts. My main concern is the case's power supply, which is only 12V@12A.

Total cost is $351.80 including shipping.

1. Jack it to a DVDROM ... have a look at Litey 'ROMs
2. Also crank the PSU a notch. If budget tells you that it means another case ... then get another case.

I'm still looking for another slim micro ATX case, but haven't found one with a better power supply. If you're wondering why micro ATX, my sister lives in a tiny studio and doesn't have the space.

Don't forget windows and ac5 if needed. As for microatx case, is it really necessary. A mid tower doesn't take up that much space. You'll probably need room for a monitor anyway.

I've got an OS and will be using the stock HSF. A 15" LCD will be placed on top of the computer, which will be placed on top of her desk / dining table / ironing board / foot rest. Space is the first issue, then aesthetics, then functionality.

IMO mATX cases arent all that much smaller than their ATX siblings ... a route you may want to take is HTPC/SFPC with a PentiumM box ... efficient as hell
