If you want to format your hard drive, back up any imortant docs and insert your windows CD and restart you should choose to start from CD and you can do a clean install from there. That's really a last resort though, are you having Spy ware problems?

yes i am i having spy ware problems with a laptop. its really messed up and its also old. but its still good. its windows 98. its lost any type of sound and it used to run in 256 colors but now it only runs in 16 bit. im pretty sure that its spy ware. but i have no windows cd thats the pronlem .....

as its windows 98 you have to insert a floppy boot disk and a windows 98 CD, restart your pc and follow the intructions!
