Default Wifi internet issue, suggestions?!

Hello, here's the situation...

I have a Toshibe M55-S325 laptop that for some reason won't allow my to browse the internet through my wifi connection. It WILL connect to a network but when I open up IE it can't load any webpages. If I use the wired ethernet then it works fine. My guess is that there is something that has been modified in the settings on EI or somewhere.

I think AOL might be an issue, though I did delete it, but not correctly. AOL was installed on the computer and when I tryed to remove it the Windows Add/Remove software utility had it in the list but when I clicked on it AOL was not detected by it, so I had to delete the folder manually. That probably left some stuff on the computer that still might affect the internet.

To night I'm going to look into it further, so hopefully I'll get some suggestins here that will help me out. Thanks!

right click on my network neighborhood, and make sure there is not an old internet connection in there you dont use anymore.. I assume your internet connections are getting all haywire..

is it passworded? or maybe mac address filtering is on. log in to your router and set it back to manufacture settings. then go from there.

If Internet Explorer works fine with the Ethernet connection it should work the same with the wireless connection. Try going to Network connections and verify the settings in your wireless connection setup or use Windows wireless setup wizard to make a new connection.

Thanks for the replies, after some though I'm planning on reformating the hard drive and starting fresh.
