Default 2000, XP, or 2003 Server?

Hmm... Any ideas which would be best? I've been gone for some time to london, but I have returned. OF course, my computer wanted to be a pain soon after. I had tried XP, 2003, so 2000 was next on my list. Other then the occational Delay Write Failure, things have been rather smooth since the install. I beleive 2003 had some driver conflicts...no clue what's up with XP.

Any ideas why 2000 might work better? I tested my drive speed and it was the same(around 216MB/s) and games seem to work as well, so performace shouldn't be affected... Of course, now I can't use Premiere Pro

I belive that all win2000's are "professional" and have the cd key built in. Or maybe its just mine. Anywho, that's what i have on this computer, its got less bells and whistles as win xp with updates and stuff. One drawback to server 2003 and win2k is that it doesn't have a system restore thing anywhere. To use your program that you can't use in win2k, try upgrading with some of the service packs. I'm not sure if it would work, but I think it's worth a shot. I tried doing that to sp4, but i couldn't connect to the internet, so I had to go back to just the base win2k. Good thing I archived the files.

I actually got a copy of 2000 with SP4 already installed so I'm guessing it's about as good as I can get. Maybe I'll try to get a better copy of XP sometime and try that again. I would like XP on here just because some software is set not to run on 2K, but it's working so well no -.-

Um...no. ME and 2000 are completely different. And there's 2000 Server, 2000 Advanced Server, and another version I can't recall besides Professional.

depends what you want to do on the computer, i prefer XP Pro over 2000 (never tried 2003), mainly because of the GUI, but also because of the drivers, and many more options they have, the icon listing is my favorite. lol

My friend had Windows ME, never heard any problems from him.
