Default need help reseting bios password on toshiba portege m100

my toshiba portege m100 wants a password before it will let me into bios and i have found by googleing that if you type control tab control enter then it lists the machine seriall no. and gives you a code which it then wants a response to. i have rung toshiba who say theyll put the code in for me for 80 + shipping. its a 20 laptop. if anyone could offer any suggestions it would be much appreciated. thanks.

You can try pulling the CMOS battery out, but I can't guarantee anything because it's a laptop.

allready tried pulling battery. it has sat for weeks with no cmos battery before i tested it today.
