Red face dual channel question

would two identicle sticks of ram work the same as a dual channel set

Yes they would. As long as they are "identical" - same company, same type, same specs, then there should be no problem. The dual channel sets are basically two identical sticks guaranteed to work together, and often overpriced.

dont think they have to be the manufacturer, they just both need to be dual channel compatible, if they are different speeds or latencies it shouldn't matter since these are set by the mobo for all ram sticks.

i think he means would having 2 identical pieces of ram (ex. 2x 512mb corsair pc3200) be the same as having dual channel memory. That was my interpretation.

And if so, then you need a motherboard that supports dual channel.

ok thanks, does that mean that if i put 4 of the same ram they will dual channel or quadriuble channel eachother?

its dual channel whether you have 2 or 4. Just make sure there the same type of ram.
