Exclamation wow, 98se is being odd

I just formated my laptop, a Toshiba Tecra 8000, and installed windows 98se on it. Somehow, after installing all the critical updates on microsoft.com, my resolution won't change from 640 by 480 and I only have 16 colors. Before formatting my laptop, i had 256 colors and had more resolution options. What happened???

-Thanks!

I've heard about someone with this problem before, and if i remember correctly i think that they needed to update/install the drivers for their graphics card, as when you formatted they would have been deleted.

i think i tried that. i don't know if i did it right, so ill tell you how i did it. i first right clicked on the desktop, clicked on properties, clicked on the settings tab, clicked the advanced button, clicked on the adapter tab, and finally, clicked on the Change button. The driver search window appeared and clicked on the windows update to find my gfx card. Then, it tells me that i have the best driver for my laptop....

is there another way to fix this problem?
