Default lost setup and system password windows me operat. system

lost setup and system password for windows me operating. system. needed to change bios to start up from disc, but its locked. i cant get it to disable the security so i can change bios? any ideas? or if i install new drive, it will go to dthe reboot disc anyway? im lost!!!!!!!please help!!!!!!!!

This may be one for the motherboard forum, but you should be able to reset the bios, (there should be a jumper on the MB, read you MB manual, it will have instructions for you).

DELL OPTIPLEX GX1

???
WANTED TO INSTALL NEW LARGER HArd drive. made back up disc...needed to change bios to reboot from disc

well unpluging the system and pulling the battery for a long enough time should reset it without having to look for a jumper.

i changed the code, but it wont take it now... i did 1234567

It will clear out the password and other non default settings. 5 min should be long enough.
