At his time I have the following:
P4 1.5 GHZ MSI 6529 I845 ATX mobo 512 Mb SDRAM ATI 9600 PRO AGP a couple of HDs 4 y.o. case with 300 power Right now I'm not ready yet to build my dream machine, but I kinda feel I need to upgrade like NOW.... So I decided to do a minor upgrade at this time. So, I'm looking at ABIT KV7 Via Socket A Barebone Kit / AMD Athlon XP 3000+ / 512MB DDR / CPU Fan / ATX Mid-Tower Case with 400 Watt PS/ at tiger which will cost me around 300 CAD... First of all, my current mobo has only AGP x4, so this new system will let me to take a full advantage of my ATI 9600. But what about the rest of the components - am I going to feel quite a difference (worth a $300 price tag)? This is/going to be my only home PC, so I'll be using it pretty much for everything, including gaming (lots of gaming actually) - UT2K4, BF2, HL2, DOOM3, etc, etc... The only additional upgrade to those specs I'll be doing in a near future is purchasing another 512 DDR stick.... So..... any ideas? ![]() |

Well if you looking at barebones I would look in to athlon 64 because lets face it 64 is the future. A 64bit system would be a nice upgrade to slowly build twords a dream pc. Thats what im doing i bought a 64bit mobo and cpu and then upgrade from there. Like over time build it. I would say deffently get more ram in nothing else.
