well it was a custom built by a small comp store a long time ago its a 1.7ghz with 256mb RDRAM and a shit vid card, socket 423 btw, and im gonna upgrade the processor, vid card (again) to a radeon x700 pro, and get 1GB of RDRAM but the ram modules are in the other 2 slots so i wanna take em out if i dont need em and get 2gb RDRAM

[edit] it supports pc600 and pc800

not sure if i understand you correctly. rdram is clocked so high (higher than even ddr today) that empty rimms are filled with heat spreaders. you should only take out the heat spreaders if you are to fill the slot with more ram.

also rdram is still very expensive.

it sounds like space holders/heat spreders, don't think you need them but if your not putting any thing there they why not leave them in. i hope thats what you ment

RDRAM needs to be matched (like old SIMM ram) so the extra 2 sticks you are seeing are probably 0Mb stick place holders (not only do they need to be matched they need to be filled). So if you remove them you need to fill them with ram that is matched (2 sticks of same brand same model same size).
