Default Windows XP Professional & Home Edition

I'm curious about differences between these two editions, is there any performance improvement or just minor changes that doesn't effect almost anything?

Pro has a few more features if you are networking in a corp LAN; 99% of it is not needed if you are at home. It has more options regarding security in a multi user enviroment, and an ASR disc maker, which is like ghosting a drive.
