I forget Windows 98. If it is possible, on Shut Down choose the option "Restart in MS-DOS mode. If not, Restart and tap F8 while you're rebooting. When you get to the boot options screen select the command prompt option and press enter (or Y, I forget.) When you get to the prompt, type "format c:" (no quotes) and press enter, confirm and it ishould take from about 45 seconds to 5 minutes depending on your HD size. When complete, open your CD-ROM drive and put in the Windows XP cd. Then manually turn off your computer. Turn it on and you should get a message: Boot from CD? or something like that. Press enter. You should be able to take it from here, for the formatting options select NTFS (quick). Hope this about covers it!
