I have a question and no one seems to have the answer, im hoping one of you will know. In a folder I have a bunch of excel files, and about a third of their titles are in blue instead of black. Does anyone know why this is? I am using Windows XP. Its not that its a problem or anything, but I would like to know why its doing that. Thanks

When a title is blue instead of black, it represents a hidden file, which shouldn't be deleted. If you wish to not view these hidden files, then simply click on (when viewing a folder - any one will do) "Tools" ==> "Folder Options", Click the ''View'' tab, then under "Hidden files and folders" press the "Do not show hidden files and folders" radio button. Then they should be gone.

Mmmm, I'm not denying that he is right or anything, but on my Windows PC, if I was to go to C:\WINDOWS, and then tick the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" alot of blue file named icons / folders appear...
And vice versa, untick it, they all go...

typically, blue files names are hidden system folders. try this out, right click on one, unselect hidden, and apply it. the text should turn black. reenable hidden and it will go back to blue.
FAT32 did do compression, but not per file, you can compress an entire volume via drivespace. but it was never worth it. of course there were tons of third party compression apps. . .
