Connecting up a wireless network for broadband

Hi people,

My house has three computers, all of which need to be connected to the internet. I had a guy come in to sort it all out (he installed an asdl hub, and three wireless adaptors in the computers), but this was before the broadband was actually up and running. He assured me all I'd have to do is log on at it'd all work.

Obviously it didnt! And he's popped off on holiday, so I was wondering whether you could help me out. I know that the broadband is up and running because I tested a USB modem on one of the computers and it works fine, so obviously my settings for the wireless network are off. I can connect through (to what I think is the asdl hub), but when I try to connect to the internet through it (using the same network connection as I would for the usb modem) it doesnt work...obviously i'm trying to connect in the wrong way.

So how should I connect?

And also, if all three computers are wanting to be on the itnernet at the same time, do they all just log on as normal?

Are you sure it is a hub and not a router? A hub does not supply the internet...

Terms:
Modem:phone line plugs into this and send 1 internet connection to a single computer OR to a router for many computers..

Router: Allows you to split a single internet connection, but it logs in and connects to the service the modem provides.. (with a free firewall!)

Hub: Splits an already present internet connection (from router (no login needed) or from a modem (login needelocally)

So a hub will work like a y or a splitter works for phone lines. You have to remember that a hub is very inefficient as it sends the packets of information to everycomputer blindly and not to the spcific computer. I think you have a router.. But either case do you have the brand and model name/number?
