Smile Need tips on buying KVM switches

I noticed that when shopping for KVM switches, there are two options of switches to choose from. One, the type of KVM switch which is a box where the you need cables to related each component, so you must buy the box and cables seperate. And Two, the type of KVM switch which is a "multi-cable" cable, where you plug your monitor, mouse and keyboard directly into the cable without using a box, which is alot cheaper.

Now my question is, since both options are available and obviously, the "multi-cable" cable is alot cheaper, which one is better? or do they both work great?

Thanks,
Alienyde
