Hi everyone,
I am encountering a severe spyware/malware infection, which I cannot get rid off... I have performed all the steps in the "sticky" thread...apparently with success : at the second scan by ad-aware and spybot, none of them detected any spyware/malware anymore. Below is the Hijack this log taken just after. But as soon as I run Internet explorer, I receive an alert by Spy Sweeper (I also run NAV on my machine) of a file currently - this changes - named "d3cp.exe" installing itself in the running processes. I also receive unwanted popups ("only the best"...what else). Having done a new spybot scan just to check, it finds (again!) the following files : CoolWWWSearch.HomeSearch: Bibliothèque (Fichier, nothing done) C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ljzld.dll Trek Blue Error Nuker: Réglages désinstallation (Clé du registre, nothing done) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\HSA Trek Blue Error Nuker: Réglages désinstallation (Clé du registre, nothing done) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\SE Trek Blue Error Nuker: Réglages désinstallation (Clé du registre, nothing done) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\SW Trek Blue Error Nuker: Réglages (Clé du registre, nothing done) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I Some files which had initially disappeared from the program files have also reappeared : "home search assistent" and "search extender" (files which I am unable to remove through the usual modify/unistall button, otherwise the system crashes (even the navigation/start bar of windows disappears...) Could someone plesae help me to find a solution ? I was thinking of uninstalling IE and reinstalling it again, but I am not sure whether this would help...Thanks very much in advance for your help !! Ok, as you say you're finding homesearch, download these programs.
CWShredder Aboutbuster Ewido Update Ewido, then boot to safemode. Once in safemode, run CWShredder and fix anything found. Then run Aboutbuster twice. Then do a full scan with Ewido, remove all it finds. Then run Hijackthis and check these lines. Then find and delete these files (you might need to see hidden files). C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ljzld.dll C:\WINDOWS\System32\msmsgs.exe C:\WINDOWS\winet32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winmv.exe C:\WINDOWS\ntml32.exe Then boot back to normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log.

OK, done ! (sorry it took so long...ewido had to check more than300.000 files...!)
Here are the results: CWShredder found nothing Aboutbuster found some items Ewido found 140 ! Also done what u asked me with hijack this. However, I could find none of the file you mentioned (I have checked to see all hidden files and all files with known extension). Here is the new Hijackthis log (but as soon as I boot back into normal mode, I received same alert from Spy Sweeper about the d3cp.exe file...) I'll check your reply and further instructions tomorrow. A huge thanks for your help ! Download Firefox and use it instead of IE.
Then run Hijackthis and check these lines. R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = about:blank R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: Class - {28510C06-A16B-091E-FA46-4DB58B0A0432} - C:\WINDOWS\addwx.dll (file missing) Close all open windows and hit "Fix checked". Reboot, then start IE. With IE running, run Hijackthis and post the log.

Looks fine now. Just to check, run Hijackthis and select "open misc tools". Then select "delete file on reboot". In the window that opens, navigate to c:windows\system32 and see if d3cp.exe appears there. If it does, highlight it and select "Open" to delete on reboot. Let us know how you go.

Nothing there in system32. You've done it !!!
Thanks a million times for your help and support !Now here comes the last question before I stop bothering u : 1/ how shall I best protect my machine from spyware, malware and so on ? Currently I am running at the same time Spy Sweeper, Spybot and NAV... Isn't this a little bit too much ? 2/ probably silly question (sorry...) : there are 3 other users on this machine (rest of the familly!) which have their own session... I hope things have been fixed for all these users (just asking because sometimes Windows XP seems to treat different users in a different manner....) 3 (and last) : do u know the Pop-washer program (also edited by Webroot) and if so is it useful ? Once again, thanks VERY MUCH for your great job ! Regards

You're very welcome
To answer your questions.1. Take a look at the Sticky. You can never have too much protection, but only have one real-time protection enabled (as you have spysweeper already, stick with that and use the others as on-demand scanners). Do regular scans with all of them, they'll each catch different things. 2. Things may not have been fixed for each user, if you want them checked, post a Hijackthis log for each user. 3. I don't know of the actual program, but Webroot are very good, so I would think it's a good program.
