Default Windows XP Service pack 2

hello everybody
i am new here as you can see, yesterday i downloaded windows xp service pack 2 and i think i am having some problems with it but im not sure. About 2 hours ago it said that nv4 which is the nvidia driver thing encountered an error and closed and my screen got all messed and i had to restart. Then i restarted it and i wanted to install a benchmark thing on the norton system works 2004 cd and when i put it in and went to explore and right clicked on it, it said "The instruction at "0x032f4156" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The Memory could not be written". I've never had this problem since ive had windows xp which is since 2002. i am running Windows Xp home edition SP2

any help would be greatly appreciated

Chris

SP2 has been noted to give lots of people all sorts of problems (which why ive not updated myself). If possible, i'd backtrack to pre-SP2

You know how to use System Restore? Go to Start- All Programs- Accessories- System Tools- System Restore. Go through the steps and choose a date that was pre-SP2, restore and the problem is "as good as never happened."

Either XP, XP SP1 (ideal) or XP SP1a (also ideal)

Lightbulb "memory could not be written in WinXP SP2"

I soved this problem by uninstalling Dr. DivX. After that none of the problems occured anymore. Any other DivX software might also cause the problem (SP2 is not jet supported by DivX).

For the activation, see the Help:

The Windows Product Activation Wizard is located in System Tools. To open a system tools item, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click the appropriate icon., then click Activate Windows.

Alternatively, you can open the Windows Product Activation Wizard by clicking Start, then Run, and then typing "oobe/msoobe /a".

So, again, when nothing works, Read The ****ing Manual.
