Question Control Panel

Every time I go to open the control panel my comp lags for a bit, then explorer restarts.
I have windows xp if that helps....

what error do you get when it restarts

i dont get an error it just restarts

do you mean windows restarts (as in the whole pc) or explorer restarts, they arn't the same thing

just explorer...
the control panel window comes up and the flashlight comes up like its searching or something

try these sounds like one of the cpl's is buggered, then try my post #2
# Test for a corrupt file. Search for all files with the .cpl file extension. Click each one to launch it until you encounter the error. To confirm that this is the problem, rename each problem file, reboot, and try to open Control Panel again: If it opens find, replace the problem file.
# Rename Control Panel Initialization File. Search for the CONTROL.INI file. Rename it. Reboot. Test Control Panel.

what do i put in search to search for all files with a .cpl extension?

use the wildcard
*.cpl

which mean anything that end with .cpl

there was one application error with "ipc4control.cpl"
somethin about an ip check program lol
