Default Removing XP Pro 64 and installing XP Pro 32 bit?

I just ordered a 64 bit system from TigerDirect (Systemax) but it comes with XP Pro 64 bit pre-installed. I read somewhere that once it's installed you're stuck with it and can't go back to XP Pro 32 bit. Is that true? I was hoping to clean format the beast when it arrives and install XP Pro 32 instead to avoid driver issues.

I dont see why you couldnt do that, if it comes wih 64 bit OS anyway, why do you want to downgrade?

Thanks. I'm worried about driver problems and very limited availability of anti-virus programs, etc. I just read an article that says to skip XP 64 and wait until the bugs are worked out or wait until Longhorn is released.

Hey btvbill, There are a few things that I think that you should know before you begin your journey into the world of 64-Bit. First things first, you will always be able to un-install the OS from the harddrive and install a new one. The second thing is that most manufacturers have begun to release their drivers for devices in 64bit. I have not had a problem with most major manufacturers and obtaining drivers of some kind. I promise that they will probably not leave you without drivers. Microsoft also has released a version of its spyware for x64 and also avast has released a free version of anti-virus software that is very good.

Yes but if it comes with XP64 installed (as OEM) then you wont have a serial anyways
