Angry pc slowing down.

i have a P4 3.0 HT and im wondering if anyone can explain why my computer slows down sometimes and cpu usage can be as low as 5%. i dont have any spyware or viruses becuase ive just reformated.

Sounds like either drive issues or CPU throttling but yeah, gonna need actual information as per Questions101

Well CPU isnt throttling (shouldnt be) ... im gonna guess that the drive is really fragmented (how much memory do you have?)

Well, not to be picky, but how do you know you don't have any malware or viruses or anything? What AV software are you running along with any other kind that prevents attacks?

A reformat is great, but 5 minutes on the internet without the proper firewalls, anti spyware etc. programs can redo all your previous damage.

thats funny.

a clean install of XP Pro SP1, no updates or patches installed, no software installed to protect, no AV or firewall enabled. My dad put this on the internet for a test. It was completely unusable within 1 day.

i have norton anti virus 2005. and ive tested spyware with microsoft anti spy, ad-aware, and spybot. they turn up with nothing.
