my current video card does not support two monitors. i really want this capability. can i simply buy a vga Y-splitter and use the two monitors as one large monitor field? i want the usual - taskbar on one monitor, and the other as extra desktop space. but i'm thinking that using the splitter will simply give me two identical screens with two taskbars...etc.(what i do on one screen happens on the other - a mirror image) i don't want this.
thanks -d |

If your graphics card doesnt support dual monitor then all that attatching a Y splitter will do is mirror the image, as you said this is not what you want.
There is a few pieces of software that can help you, if you look aroundf for DexPot, it will create virtual desktops on the same monitor, so you click and go to dwesktop 2 and do stuff thee, thn go back to desktop 1 and it will be blank, until you go back to 2 and your stuff will be there again, i use it and it is very VERY good. Google around for Dexpot
