Default ventilation - whistling sound

Im on a laptop. after leaving the laptop on for a couple of minutes i get this whistling sound (not so loud, almost the same level as static sound) coming out of the ventilation on the back of the PC. I think this is where the fan of the CPU is.

When i put my finger to cover part of the ventilation, the whistling sound stops. Anyone know why this happens and how to stop the sound? Is the fan broken or maybe due to dust? Any help will be appreciated.

Laptop specs can be viewed here: http://computing.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ps...09/113501.html
