Default Broadband no always connected

Hi, everyone I need your advice, one month ago I started getting broadband from tiscali but is not always connected, instead every time after i start up my pc and open the explorer a a window similar to the one in dial up opens and I get connected the problem is that after certain time the connection is interrupted and I have to click on the explorer again to get connected, thats especially annoying when Im playing games cuz have to log in again and all of that, so I will really appreciate if anyone can tell me how to configure my connection to stay always connected and see if doing that stop disconnecting all the time.

thanks in advance for your help.

some dsl connections use what they call a remote transmitter. most people do not live close enough to a central office so these were installed so that a lot more people can connect to dsl. however when you boot the computer, you must provide a username and password. check your properties of your connection and make sure it doesnt have a disable after a certain amount of time. also many routers allow you to configure the router so that it connects for you. then when you boot up the internet will be ready.

Sorry but I didnt get the answer I was looking for maybe because i didn't explain very well the problem, I have not router, my pc connects directly to the internet and the "disable after x minutes idle" is not checked, I didn't understand the point with the remote transmiter thing, doest that mean tha doesn't matter what I do it will still need to log in every time I start up? if don't, can anyone tell me how to configure the connection the way that is always conected (with not need for the log in screen stuff)
one thing that i have notice is that if I disconnect the network connection the lights in the modem (adsl and power) remain on, but when happen on its own the adsl light starts blinking, the modem is a sagem f@st 800 e3.
thx again for your help.

with some dsl companies they have RT (remote transmitter) which is a small box down your street that act as the "CO." everytime you want to access the internet you must contact the RT so that an IP is assigned to you. i am assuming that you have a dynamic IP. what routers can do is that it acts as the computer. even if your computer is off, it stays connected to the RT.

you really dont need to know anything about remote terminals. whether ure on a RT or out of the CO is transparent to the end user. and if ure adsl light remains on, then you are still getting dsl sync.

you said u dont have a router right? and your computer is directly connected to the dsl modem? than you must use some type of authentication software on your computer such as winpoet? something that your dsl provider gave you? it must be that login box that you speak of when u open IE.

in internet explorer, under the tools menu, click on internet options, and then on the connections tab. at the very bottom right there is a button for lan settings, click on that and make sure that Automatically detect settings is selected. also, i assume that like most isp's you are given a dynamic ip address. thus u should not worry about dns servers, because if u are auto assigned an ip, you get the dns addresses automatically as well.

next time you log in go to Run in the start menu, type in CMD and hit enter. then type in:
ping computerforum.com
you should get something that looks like this:
Pinging computerforum.com [64.191.70.9] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 64.191.70.9: bytes=32 time=23ms TTL=52
Reply from 64.191.70.9: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=52
Reply from 64.191.70.9: bytes=32 time=21ms TTL=52
Reply from 64.191.70.9: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=52

Ping statistics for 64.191.70.9:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 21ms, Maximum = 23ms, Average = 22ms

then, when u notice it disconnect, do the same thing, and see if it says host cannot be contacted, or something like that. if it does do that, make sure that your authentication software is still running. if u are still having problems, post back, and we will talk about your ip configuration
