Hey, im really needin a quick reply on thios coz im leaving in 1 hour (to go to hers and try to fix it)and i need to have it figured out my then.....(coz there is no working pc there to check this forum)
you may have read the previous post about the HP man breaking my girlfriends pc, well i think iv might have the problem narrowed down to a faulty boot.ini file. Ill try to recover win xp n all that but here is my question.... how can i edit the boot.ini from a command prompt before the pc boots up...coz u see it dont boot up and i know how to edit it from cmd when windows is running but when i use a ms dos boot disk or any other i have it says i cannot go to the c: directory, but i need to go there coz how i know to edit the boot.ini is this: open cmd (in windows) type c: cd\ attrib -r -a -s -h boot.ini edit boot.ini and that brings the file up for editing, but how can i do this since the PC wont boot up? Please help... thanks
